There are many kinds of photographers. The people who take photos that end up in magazines and galleries are just one of the many equally important kinds of photographers. Sometimes people are embarrassed to show me their photo albums filled with friends, BBQ's and weekend trips. In fact, I love to see peoples photos albums and look at them just as carefully as a pro giving me their portfolio. At some point they inevitable say "Mine aren't as good as yours are." When in fact they are comparing apples and oranges.
I rarely take these kind of "snap" photos, but it has nothing to do with them being below me. It's just that those are not the images that i "see" when i pick up a camera. I'm very aware that there is alot of important aspects of life (reality) that are left out of the photos I take and I'm happy to know there are many kinds of photographers out there taking many kinds of photographs. So next time you show your photographs to "a photographer", please don't make any apologies. Your photos are fine just the way they are.
